The People v. Leo Frank: A Detailed Review

Pseudo-Scholarly Docudrama: The People v. Leo Frank

The People v. Leo Frank tells the self-deceiving version of the strangulation-murder of Mary Phagan and the lynching Leo Frank. Some think of it as a Greek tragedy, while others consider it the beginning of the end for the United States of America.

This film perpetuates myths about the Leo Frank case in the style of a fictionalized docudrama, giving the observer a false impression of respectable academic credibility and third person scholarly neutrality.

Ultimately, when the film is distilled to its essence, it is nothing more than a collection of half-truths, outright lies, and conspiracy theories meant to insinuate disparaging morality tales about European-Americans. The People v. Leo Frank is the Frank partisan version of the infamous case, but refined with the the most overt Antigentile blood-libel accusations common of retellings subdued for the broader viewer consumption.

In the bigger historical picture for European-American and the descendants of Europeans living across the world, The People v. Leo Frank is one of more than one thousand uniquely produced and directed Jewish propaganda films created for undermining Western Civilization.

This “docudrama” is another reminder in the millennia smoldering conflict with our hereditary enemies that Jewish atavism is hardwired genetically with extreme propensities for perpetuating in-group verses out-group conflict utilizing the “us verses them” paradigm as a bulwark against assimilation, and in waging both overt and proxy tribal culture warfare campaigns demoralizing the Gentile descendants of Europeans wherever they live as a host in a parasite symbiosis with Jews.

In the United States, the perceptive view The People v. Leo Frank as a tireless practice of the Jewish instigation game of “think globally, act locally,” successfully proselytizing enemies within of the host country, while making money in the process. Hollywood and Broadway have both seized upon the Leo Frank case with international fanfare and reach.

Pedophile Cheerleaders: Frankites

There can be no forgiveness for people and organizations who have attempted to turn Leo Frank from a sex killer into a martyr of a Gentile-inspired anti-Semitic conspiracy regardless of the media format it takes. The Frankites and media use Leo Max Frank–a grotesque pedophile and violent sexual predator, the president of B’nai B’rith who in part inspired the birth of the un-American Jewish agency Anti-Defamation League–to wage a social, political, and genetic racewar against Gentiles. The ADL is very much at the center of the movement working to destroy the cultural heritage and hegemony of Western Civilization.

The Genetically Conscious Manipulation

The Jewish war against Gentiles is fought on a much deeper level than we might expect in the traditional sense of militaries and armies in livery invading Western Civilization. The Jews seek to annihilate the metaphorical political, social, mental, psychological, and national immune system of the countries they occupy. Powerful Jewish groups are subverting the United States of America by manipulating every aspect of the U.S. government, Federal Reserve, education, and legal system, through the all powerful super umbrella of the Jewish lobby, which now in the 21st century infects every U.S. political system level of law, public education, and government.

Preaching to the Choir and Creating New Converts, The People v. Leo Frank

The People v. Leo Frank might be best described as serving two important purposes for the Jews and Leo Frank partisans (Frankites): (1) it provides an up-to-date, as of 2009, media regurgitation, creatively spun, for reinforcing the well established one hundred-year-old Frankite narrative of the case, and (2) it makes a well-presented attempt at being a successful proselytizing propaganda video for recruiting new Frankites. For more information on what a “Frankite” is, read Tom Watson’s publication called Watson’s Magazine, issues January, March, August, September, and October 1915 located on www.archive.org (Watson’s Magazine, August, September, and October provide the best analysis of the case).

Read Watson’s Magazine August, September, and October of 1915, and his Jeffersonian Newspaper (1914 to 1917) on the Leo Frank case to learn what really happened. Find out why Tom Watson is so hated by the Jewish dominated media, the well organized Jewish community, ADL, SPLC and all the other countless Jewish individuals and groups involved in this culture conflict with the United States of America and Western Civilization. Tom Watson has been added to the list of top one hundred banned and censored writers in the world; they won’t let his books be listed on Wikipedia on the Leo Frank case as primary sources, even for historical purposes (see: Leo Frank Wikipedia article).

One Hundred Years of Lies: The People v. Leo Frank

The People v. Leo Frank is like every other film created by Jews about Jews, delusional, Machiavellian, and organ pipe and violin melodramatic, self-aggrandizing, egotistical, narcissistic, self-deceiving, self-serving, ennobling, and emotionally exalting. It’s the “revenge of the nerds” metaphor played out a thousand different entertaining ways, always with Gentiles at the root of the problem.

Like countless other Judaic films, it portrays the Jewish media circus’s tired broken-record rendition of the heroic and Promethean Jew, struggling stoically for justice and freedom, but trapped within the eternally anti-Semitic and hostile Gentile world.

So how many Judaic films over the last one hundred years have flooded the millions of Gentile viewers–movies designed for the purpose, in their revolutionary Jewish spirit, of attempting to disfigure the soul of the host countries they occupy?

Moreover, how many movies, books, articles, photographs, images, music, and media presentations did Jews create to wage a cultural war against European-Americans? More than a million since the Jewish cultural conflict against the United States of America began in 1913.

So why are Jews always trying to move into Gentile countries and live amongst Gentiles while they continuously point the scapegoating finger, accusing Gentiles of being conspiratorially anti-Jewish racists, bigoted Jew haters, and anti-Semitic?

The answer is because the sum total of Jewish identity–genetically, historically, culturally, and religiously–is the melodramatic culture-wrecking theme replayed through the decades and centuries of Jews living amongst Gentiles.

The recurring echo of the Jewish-Gentile relationship over the last two thousand years is represented by a neurotic love-hate, dysfunctional, sadomasochistic relationship. In this thousand-year-old drama, the Jews cry out in pain as the Jewish collective slaps the evil goyim across the face. Afterward, the Jews run away sobbing and then call you an anti-Semite when you respond. This drama has metaphorically been played out for the last several thousand years Gentiles have dealt with Jewish occupation. Isn’t it time Jews and Gentiles peacefully separate and stop the eternal Jewish-Gentile war from escalating?

What The People v. Leo Frank Really Is: An Attempt to Rehabilitate a Pedophile, Rapist, and Murderer

The People v. Leo Frank was created as an attempt to rehabilitate Leo Frank from what he will forever be remembered as, first and foremost, a little man with a small penis (“I’m not built like other men”) who suffered from a Napoleon complex and abused his power, rank, authority, and position as a high-profile factory boss.

Second, Leo Frank will also live on in the world’s collective memory as a child-molester, abuser, pedophile, rapist, strangler, and convicted murderer. His conviction was affirmed by more than a baker’s dozen judges at every level of the U.S. appellate system whose decisions supported the notion that he had a fair trial and the evidence against him was as solid as his clenched left fist pounding on Mary Phagan’s face.

Lucille Frank Deserves the Sympathy, Not Leo Frank

Some speculate the adulterous pedophile Leo Frank may have contracted an STD from his countless in-call whoring escapades at the National Pencil Co. and Atlanta’s bustling red light district. And he may have likely infected his poor wife Lucille Frank with genital warts, herpes, and other diseases, as these STDs spread rampantly in the condomless red light district of early 20th century Atlanta. Moreover, some speculate that Leo Frank might have caught an incurable venereal disease that pushed him into bouts of insanity, because he was already hormonally imbalanced, as a lot of his pictures reveal with his bulging eyes.

Was this a case of genetic predisposition meets environment?

What Did “Jurywoman” Lucille Selig Frank Vote in 1957 When the Judge of Life Asked Her for a Truthful Verdict Concerning the Leo Frank Trial?:

Lucille Selig Frank Gave Her Ultimate Verdict in Terms of the Guilt or Innocence of Leo Frank with a Notarized Last Will and Testament in 1954

The grave site plot number #1 reserved for Lucille Selig Frank, which is to the immediate left of Leo Frank in the Frank-Stern family plot within Mount Carmel cemetery, is empty because of a decision Lucille made in 1954.

Remember the famous picture of Leo Frank in court with his wife on the left and his mother on the right as you are looking at the picture? 1, 2, 3 (Lucille, Leo, Rachel). That’s the same configuration you would see when facing Leo Frank’s tombstone, but something’s missing on the left: Lucile Selig Frank.

Lucille Selig Frank specifically requested to be cremated in her 1954 will written and notarized just three years before she died on April 23, 1957, and her ashes were buried in an unmarked grave many years later between her mother and father in Atlanta, Georgia.

The true depth of this remarkable, tortured woman was revealed within her velvet-handed politesse. You can only commit to double think for so long before it destroys you, and at some point, you need to set yourself free, as she had to do at one point of her life. As the 1954 will indicates, she attained that enlightenment and freedom, no longer living in a fantasy land of delusion that Leo Frank was innocent.

If State’s Exhibit J given by Minola Mcknight to the police is indeed the approximate truth, then a drunk and shattered Leo Frank confessed the murder to Lucille Selig on the evening of April 26, 1913, after 10:30 p.m.

State’s Exhibit J reveals Lucy (Lucille Selig Frank) told Minola (Magnolia McKnight) that in a drunken stupor, Leo Frank called for his pistol so he could shoot himself and told to his wife he didn’t know why he would murder.

It also meant the August 18, 1913, Leo Frank incriminating statement was not the first time Frank admitted the murder. Luther Zeigler Rosser’s closing speech was so grotesquely mocking, one can’t help but think Leo confessed to Luther as well. And Rosser just couldn’t fake it, but Reuben could.

Who else did Leo Frank confess the murder to?

Jim Conley was allegedly the first. “I wanted to be with her, but she refused me …”

A Rehabilitation and Reminder to Jews that Gentiles Are All Conspiratorial Monsters

The Frankite rehabilitation efforts on behalf of Leo Frank will not only attempt to transfigure him from the most loathsome type of man into the highest and noblest, but will also honor Frank with a new permanent role as a Jewish idol, a high holy religious figure, one to be added to the holy books and taught as part of Judaism and Jewish history in America and across the entire world.

A New Cultural Icon Is Born and a New Branch of Judaism Is Conceived

After one hundred years of propaganda, Leo Frank has become a new cultural chapter in the spiritual and religious texts of Judaism, a stoic victim who was persecuted, railroaded, and martyred at the hands of an anti-Semitic conspiracy and an “injustice for all” U.S. legal system created by non-Jews.

The result is that Leo Frank has become the spiritual patron father for Jews of the world as the tentacles of the ADL (1913)–Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith–and other Jewish groups reach into every country and continue influencing governments to pass laws that punish people for criticizing Jews or questioning their version of history.

If you study the closing arguments of State’s Prosecution, Solicitor General Hugh M. Dorsey and Frank Arthur Hooper, at the trial (which are available within American State Trials Volume X, 1918) and then read Tom Watson’s analysis of the Leo Frank incriminating statement in the August and September 1915 issue of Watson’s Magazine, it is easy see that Ben Loeterman left out most of the damaging evidence against Frank.

Can You Imagine if Leo Frank Had Succeeded in Pinning the Crime on Newt Lee?

The closing argument by Hugh Dorsey is a bit long-winded, but Frank Arthur Hooper’s is shorter and more concise. Both are worth the read. However, Watson’s writings on the Leo Frank case are quite scrumptious. You will learn why the Jews despise Tom Watson with such fanaticism. Simply put, Jews abhor Tom Watson because he articulated the Leo Frank incriminating statement so deliciously (better than Hugh Dorsey and Frank Arthur Hooper). Jews are forever trying to suppress the fact that Leo Frank made a trial statement that amounted to a murder confession on August 18, 1913.

What occurred as a result of Tom Watson making the complicated Leo Frank case easy to understand?

Thomas Edward Watson either receives the full expression Jewish screeching or they ignore him completely. They censor him as a source for online encyclopedias like Wikipedia. Tom Watson erased one hundred years of pathological lies with his 1915 issues of Watson’s Magazine: January, March, August, September, and October. A century later, we are still dealing with these Jewish extremists, forcing the same falsehoods on the public that they pushed back in 1913 to 1915.

The People v. Leo Frank Pretends to Be Neutral and Deceives the Public

The movie feigns neutrality by presenting itself as a legitimate docudrama, but for those who have studied the details of the Leo Frank case, the film is nothing more than one of the worst examples of hoaxery in the making. A century after the murder of Mary Phagan (1913-2013) and the lynching of Leo Frank (1915 to 2015), Frankite deceit has reached its apogee.

How the Fake Scholarship Was Done and Delivered

Presenting the Leo M. Frank case in a pseudo scholarly manner is achieved by interspersing throughout the storyline carefully selected sound bites and edited segments of face-to-face interviews from numerous people who are knowledgeable about the case and Southern history.

The story is then woven through a contrived and biased path to leave people in doubt about Leo M. Frank’s guilt and ultimately feeling righteously indignant about the possible railroading he suffered. This aggressively promoted position presented to a duped public is the century-old defense side of the Leo Frank case.

The Perfect Fall Guy: Leo Max Frank

Frank partisans insist that Leo M. Frank was framed as an innocent Jew in the wrong place at the wrong time by a blindly bigoted people looking for anyone to punish for the murder of Mary Phagan. Allegedly, the “guilty” negro Jim Conley was not worthy enough for a conviction, because he was black and a janitor, so the evil goyim went after an “innocent” Jew instead. (See Elaine Marie Alphin.)

Weird Jewish Race Obsessions: White Racists Secretly Love “Guilty” Black Rapists Who Strangle Little Girls, But Not “Innocent” White Jews

The Leo Frank partisans (Frankites), like Elaine Marie Alphin, assert the outrageous claim that white Southerners would rather blame a well-educated “innocent” white Jew named Leo Frank, who created hundreds of jobs for the community, for the murder over an uneducated alcoholic “guilty” Negro sweeper.

In this film, the Jewish assistant district attorney of Georgia says that during the white separatist South of 1913 in the context of the Leo Frank trial, the drunk negro janitor Jim Conley was equal in status to the white Southerners but the white factory boss Leo Frank was ranked below negroes because he was a Northerner. Not true, white Southerners considered Jews equal. Anti-Semitism was virtually nonexistent in the South. White Southerners would allow their daughters and sons to marry Jews, but never negroes. The white Southerners and Jews were more than happy to do business with each other, even if in the evening they went to their own separate social clubs.

Gentiles Hate Jews So Much, They Let Them Live in Their Countries

Jews believe this hysterical “anti-Semitic conspiracy” theory has been going on for more than five thousand years, despite the fact the European non-Jewish men founded the United States. The United States has enabled Jewish people more opportunities, wealth, and success than any other country in the last five thousand years. Not even Israel can make this claim.

Meet Some of the Frankites Like Steve Oney and Ben Loeterman Who Created This Propaganda Film

Just as it was in the 1987 miniseries The Murder of Mary Phagan, the Frank partisan position on the Leo Frank case tends to smear, slander, defame, spin, manipulate, embellish, and contradict the real facts and evidence of the case, with numerous types of published articles and treatments rewriting history, including various books and articles by Oney, Dinnerstein, Alphin, Goldfarb, Golden, and many other Frankites who tell their openly biased versions of the story. These books are unanimously written from the Frankite perspective, and they omit huge volumes of damaging facts against Leo Frank. None of them dare to discuss about the Leo Frank incriminating statement of August 18, 1913, but instead descend into gutter racial politics, so LET’S DIVE IN!

The Wailing Wall: The Eternal Successful Victim

The defense position of the Leo Frank case embraces racial victimhood and persecution with somber infantile emotions of the eternal us vs. them, turning the case into a melodramatic mini Holocaust of sorts and Tom Watson the spiritual precursor of Adolph Hitler.

Clemency Order

To see the true power of the Jewish community, they turned out corrupt Georgian Governor John M. Slaton in 1915, making him trade his soul for a satchel of silver shekels. Slaton took a long hiatus to New York City after his Leo Frank commutation disqualification scandal erupted. Isn’t it interesting that all the Gentile sellouts receive a free trip to NYC? Is that how Jewish criminals worked in 1913? Study the case to see the repeated pattern of people who changed or made up stories on behalf of Leo Frank took junkets to NYC.

Governor John M. Slaton, in the last days of his final term June 21, 1915, commuted the death sentence of Leo Frank to life in prison in a clemency order that he suggested was not disturbing the verdict of guilt. Slaton had Leo Frank transferred to a minimum security facility in Milledgeville, Georgia, ensuring Frank’s cell was comfortable with cotton bedding, a radio, and wind-up record player, plenty of cigs, Coca-Cola when it was made with the correct ingredients and whiskey.

See: Slaton’s written remarks and justification concerning the commutation on behalf of Leo M. Frank. Later, Slaton actually compares Leo Frank to Jesus Christ and himself as the Georgia Governor to the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate in Israel (you have to read it to believe it) in a pathetic attempt to soothe the rightfully enraged Christian public, but the toady appeal was transparent and ultimately backfired. One thousand people marched on the home of John Slaton, and if it had not been for the National Guard shielding him from the indignant protesters, he would have received his own dose of Southern justice.

Shocking But True: Governor John Slaton Was a Part Owner of the Law Firm Representing Leo Frank

John M. Slaton betrayed the Constitution he swore to uphold and violated his oath of office in the most brazenly obvious way when he became a senior partner and part owner of the law firm representing Leo M. Frank as the legal defense team. The disqualified Slaton did what amounted to commuting the sentence for one of his own biggest business clients, Leo M. Frank.

“Based on a True Story”–Code Phrase for Jewish-Spun Propaganda

This film, although biased, is based partly on a true story about the real-life strangulation of thirteen-year-old Mary Phagan (1899 to 1913) on that infamous Saturday in the early teens of the 20th century, in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia.

The eighty-five-minute film highlights and briefly covers selective portions of the events in this case and carefully omits volumes of significant facts against Leo Frank.

Film topics covered include the murder investigation by the police of Atlanta, Georgia, and the Pinkerton Detective Agency hired by the National Pencil Company. However, both of the unanimous decisions against Leo Frank by the coroner’s inquest jury and the grand jury indictment are left out. For your information, a coroner’s inquest jury of seven men voted 7 to 0 (coroner plus six jury men) to have Leo Frank held for murder and reviewed by a grand jury for the strangulation of Mary Phagan. A grand jury of twenty-one men– including four Jewish members–voted unanimously 21 to 0 to indict Leo Frank for the murder of Mary Phagan, and then a court of thirteen men, a judge and a jury of twelve men, voted unanimously 13 to 0 to convict Leo Frank of murder. A grueling two-year appeals process essentially affirmed all the earlier unanimous decisions from the trial verdict of 13 to 0, grand jury verdict of 21 to 0, and inquest verdict of 7 to 0. The two-year appeals process affirmed the 7 + 21 + 13 = 41 to 0.

In the film, the trial is partially covered but spun in favor of Leo Frank. The conviction and death sentence judgment are barely highlighted. Even worse, the movie failed to discuss the cheesy, slapstick, and frivolous two years of grueling tooth-and-nail appeals by Leo M. Frank. The majority decisions of every single court level of the United States, from the Superior and Supreme Court of Georgia, Federal District Court, and United States Supreme Court issued majority decisions that essentially amounted to the entire United States Court System upholding the verdict of the thirteen-man panel of Judge Leonard S. Roan and jury.

Oney’s “Shit in the Shaft” Theory

The governor’s controversial commutation cleverly manipulated Steve Oney’s shit in the shaft theory, turning Jim Conley’s excrement in the elevator shaft into the smoking gun (or the steaming pile) to exonerate Leo Frank. The mob lynching was discussed, but not the interesting conversations on that four-hour night drive leading to Leo M. Frank’s lynching.

ADL Power to Pardon a Child Molester, Rapist, Abuser, and Murderer

The story concludes with the aftermath and eventual ADL power broker pardon WITHOUT EXONERATION of Leo Max Frank in 1986.

Yes, after decades of legal reviews, everyone supported the verdict of the jury. No one, not even Governor Slaton, disturbed the guilty verdict.

Over a dozen appellate judges affirmed the guilty verdict, and all of them had studied the trial testimony and evidence meticulously, as their job fully required of them by the law and Constitution of the United States. The film left out the fact that in the calm quiet quarters, where no false accusations of mob terror could be possible, every appellate decision affirmed the guilt of Leo Frank from the Superior Court, State Supreme Court, District Court, and United States Supreme Court.

The movie also fails to mention the incriminating statement Leo Frank made on the witness stand on August 18, 1913, when he told a packed courtroom of 200+ people, media, stenographers, and a judge and jury that he might have “unconsciously” gone to the bathroom in the metal room during the time of the murder and put himself in the very place the prosecution spent twenty-nine days trying to prove was the real scene of the murder–the infamous metal room.

Jewish Film Production and Consultation

The 1913 Mary Phagan cold case murder story ultimately resulting in the mob lynching of Leo Frank in 1915 is re-created, filmed, and creatively spun by producer and director Ben Loeterman. Steve Oney, author of The Dead Shall Rise (a book alleging the total sum of the Leo Frank case was a vast anti-Semitic conspiracy and that Conley did it), acted as chief consultant for the storyline, and he also served as assistant director. Steve Oney was interviewed extensively throughout the docudrama speaking face to face with the viewers of the film through his metaphorical hexagram rose-colored glasses, about his carefully selected version of the historical events. Oney even plays an extra in re-created dramatized scenes. Lucky him.

A Noble Lawyer Corrupted by Jewish Money and Pressure

The story is narrated with a period Southern accent in the first person by a fictionalized version of prosecution team member, lawyer William Smith, who represents one of the star witnesses at the trial, factory sweeper Jim Conley (the man Frank partisans accuse of really committing the murder). Through the course of the fictionalized movie, William Smith becomes increasingly convinced Jim Conley actually committed the murder after the commencement of the murder trial, even though the entire appeals process affirmed Leo Frank’s conviction.

Smith eventually grows senile, succumbing to a degenerative brain disease, but before dying of dementia and brain damage, he scrawls a kindergarten-style barely legible deathbed confession that he believes Leo Frank is an innocent man of good character. This is despite the overwhelming evidence against Frank in real life from the Leo Frank Murder Trial Brief of Evidence, which is available for download from The Internet Archive.

The People v. Leo Frank Film Begins

The film opens momentarily in 1915 with a dreamy Leo Frank in a black-and-white prison jumpsuit, winding up an old-fashioned record player, sighing, leaning and silently cooing, listening to opera, and then “William Smith,” the fictionalized narrator, speaks of the strength of Leo Frank’s marriage (yet his wife Lucille Selig Frank specifically mandated she did not want to be buried with her pedophile adulterous husband, and her wish was fulfilled). Then the movie flashes back to the pencil factory basement at sometime around 3:00 to 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, 1913, where the lantern beholden night watch, Newt Lee, finds the dead body of Mary Phagan, a little girl who had been killed the afternoon on the day before, April 26, 1913, at 12:05 to 12:10, maybe 12:07.

The narrator of the movie alleges that if Leo Frank had picked up the phone at 3:30 to 4:00 a.m. after Newt Lee and the police had tried to call him, the outcome of the case would have been significantly different.

From there, the true story deviates on in a fictionalized manner unfolding on the infamous day, Saturday, April 26, 1913, Confederate Memorial Day. The film briefly discusses the Southern holiday being celebrated; as in reality, the few remaining Confederate veterans at the time would march through Atlanta, Georgia, or ride in slow-moving vintage cars with the tops down as they wave to cheering crowds of onlookers and Southern patriots.

The story continues with defensive embellishment and half-truths about the specific events leading to and after the disappearance and murder of Mary Phagan. The entire purpose of the movie is to leave you doubting that Leo Frank committed the murder. The half-truths used to achieve this are presented exceptionally well. This is another rendition of deceptive propaganda film at its best.

Read the Official Brief of Evidence

The Brief of Evidence in the Leo Frank Murder Trial ratified by both the prosecution and defense team tells the real story of Leo M. Frank’s guilt without all the Frank partisan bias. It is available online on Archive.org.

Frank Lured Phagan into the Metal Room to Find Something Out

The nexus of the story is after Phagan walked alone into the virtually empty pencil factory at just minutes after noon on April 26, 1913. Phagan had been temporarily laid off on the previous Monday, because metal supplies had been fully depleted and not replenished yet. She returned to the factory to pick up her final pay of $1.20 and find out if the metal shipment had arrived yet or when it would come. Leo Frank was the last person to admit seeing her alive.

Leo Frank led Mary Phagan into the metal room after she asked him if the metal supplies had come in yet. Frank told her he didn’t know, using that statement as a segue to lure her into the metal room to “find out” what he already knew.

Once in the metal room, the aggressive sexual predator Leo Frank attempted to make a move on Phagan, she resisted, and he pounded his fist into her eye as she stumbled back and hit her head against the handle of the lathe. She fell, and he slammed her head against the floor, raped her by tearing up her bloomers, and then strangled her, so she would not report it to her parents or the police. Mary was murdered just down the hall from Frank’s second-floor office in the metal room, and her blood stains and hair were found there. Leo Frank and his janitor, Jim Conley, made a weak attempt to cover them up.

Leo Frank told Jim Conley to move Mary Phagan’s body to the basement and then handed Conley $200 to stuff her in the basement furnace. Conley stopped short of agreeing to put the body into the oven, so Frank requested the money back and promised it to Jim Conley later if he would pack the body of Phagan into the cellar oven.

On the Way to the Pencil Factory: 11:45 to Noon, April 26

Before Mary exited the trolley at noon to go into the pencil factory, she had agreed to meet up with her friend sitting with her, co-worker and neighbor George Epps. They had planned to watch the Confederate parade together at two o’clock.

Mary had told Epps that twenty-nine-year-old Leo Frank had winked at her and made inappropriate, aggressive sexual advances toward her, which naturally frightened her at the age of thirteen.

More than a Dozen Female Employees Testified to Frank’s Aggressive Sexual Tendencies

Epps’s words would take on significant importance when more than a dozen teenage girls employed by the pencil factory would come forward to say Frank was a sexual predator and had a really bad character for lasciviousness.

The Sweeper and Former Book Keeper

Two male employees testified that they had participated in some capacity in Leo Frank’s whoring escapades–one as a lookout and the other a whoring participant. Leo Frank was using the factory for whoring purposes and allowing others to do the same.

April 26, 2 p.m. to Twilight

Epps watched the parade alone from two to four o’clock, wondering why Mary stood him up. That evening, Epps, who lived just around the corner from the Phagan residence, ran over to her house to ask why Mary did not show up. He learned that Mary Phagan was missing since the late morning of April 26, 1913. Mary’s mother had last seen her at 11:30 a.m. finishing lunch, just as she was leaving her home to catch the trolley to the pencil factory and collect her pay from Leo Frank.

April 27, 3:15 in the Morning

The next day, in the early hours of April 27, 1913, at three o’clock in the morning, the African-American night watch Newt Lee went to the basement of the pencil factory to use the “negro toilet,” and afterward, he discovered the slumped body of a little girl in the gloom. He found her on a garbage pile strangled with a cord dug into her neck, her face was ground and soiled with dark soot, her undergarments were torn and bloodied, and oddly, her arms were folded reverently. With no evidence of a struggle taking place in the basement, she seemed to have been dragged and dumped there, according to the police investigation.

April 26, 4 p.m.

Earlier in the day, Newt Lee came to work early at the request of Frank. When he arrived, Frank–who was normally calm, cool, and collected–burst out of his office frantically and made the watchman leave the factory for another two hours, so the superintendent could presumably finish the clean-up job. Newt said he was tired and asked if he could please sleep in the packing room, but Frank refused and instructed him to go out on the town and enjoy himself. Frank practically pushed his employee Newt Lee out of the factory for another two hours.

April 27, 3 a.m.

Three 0’clock in the morning, after discovering the dead body, the night watchman Newt Lee then attempted to call Leo Frank for almost ten minutes, because Frank was the superintendent of the factory. With no success contacting his boss, he then called the police, and one of the biggest scandals in U.S. history rocked the nation.

Back to the Film

After arresting and questioning several people, the movie contends, the police begin to hone in, narrow their focus, and allegedly scapegoat the “Northern Industrialist Jew” Leo Frank, Mary Phagan’s boss at the pencil factory. A clean-cut, married man, president of B’nai B’rith, and well connected in Jewish circles, Frank is questioned and statements are taken.

Two Faces: One for the Public and One Behind Closed Doors

Frank was a Cornell-educated engineer from Brooklyn, New York City, and a prominent member of the Atlanta Jewish community and Jewish philanthropic circles, which represented an important part of his reputation. However, his behind closed doors character was that of a mischievous sexual predator and whore monger, as revealed by dark associates and over a dozen female child labor employees who formerly worked at the factory. Frank was regularly using the factory for trysts with child prostitutes and propositioning his teenage and preteen employees with money for sex.

Strange Behavior after the Murder

Leo Frank was the last person to admit seeing Mary Phagan alive at noon in his office, and several people who came in and out of the factory after the murder had presumably occurred reported his behavior was unusual that afternoon, like the night watchman fall guy. Frank’s body language had betrayed him. He was acting very nervous after the murder and was aggressive about getting people to leave the factory.

Weak Alibi and a Poor Defense

Frank’s murder trial became a free-for-all melee of racial stereotypes, prejudice, bigotry, and racism from his own defense team against the African-American janitor who had admitted to being an accessory after the fact of the Phagan murder. The Frank legal defense team also resorted to blaming religious bigotry, race hatred, and anti-Semitism as the reason Leo Frank was brought to trial. The Jewish community and powerful Jewish groups would repeat these accusations, especially the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) of B’nai B’rith. Even today, these accusations continue.

Frank was finally found guilty by an alleged “mob terrorized” and “intimidated” jury who was “eager to convict,” largely on the “perjury” of the state’s coached star witness, Jim Conley, and several factory girls who testified Leo Frank had a bad character for aggressive sexual predatory behavior, child molestation, and lasciviousness.

Jim Conley the Real Murderer?

The People v. Leo Frank is the latest Frank dramatization by the Jewish community. Like many contemporary treatments and media films of the subject, it alleges Jim Conley to be the real murderer and Leo Frank the fall guy of global anti-Semitism, even though the trial testimony and evidence overwhelmingly points to Frank’s guilt.

Frank’s lawyers appealed the murder conviction as many times as legally possible, through every level of the court system all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court. The state and federal court judges reviewed the evidence and testimony and overwhelmingly voted to NOT disturb the jury’s verdict. And in doing so, they affirmed Frank’s guilt again and again, but Frank supporters perpetuate the accusations of anti-Semitism to this day.

Fully Exhausted ALL Appeals

After fully exhausting all appeals and alternatives in the court system, the Leo Frank defense team was left with one final option. Leo M. Frank requested a commutation from the Georgia Governor John M. Slaton, who, as a law partner and part owner of the law firm representing Leo Frank at his murder trial (a conflict of interest and betrayal of political oaths as governor), committed one of the most audacious acts of nepotism in U.S. history.

National Letter Writing Campaign

Throughout the trial and appeal process, The New York Times, big money figures, and the Jewish community united, leading a nationwide crusade with various national and regional newspapers to publicly create the false impression the people of the United States wanted Frank to be exonerated. Meanwhile, the triumphant marketing efforts of the Jewish community resulted in a massive letter writing campaign outside of Georgia, flooding the Georgia governor’s mailbox with tens of thousands of letters asking him to commute Leo Frank’s death sentence. But the people of the South and in the State of Georgia at the time viewed this successful campaign as undue and vile outside meddling, fanning the flames of rage and resentment.

June 21, 1915

At the eleventh hour, the outgoing Governor of Georgia, John M. Slaton, in what might be described as criminal cronyism taken to the extreme and a gross conflict of interest, concluded against the coroner’s jury, grand jury, murder trial jury, the state, district, and federal court system.

After receiving countless thousands of fan letters requesting mercy for Leo Frank and “discovering new evidence,” Governor John M. Slaton felt that Frank overwhelmingly had not received a fair trial and commuted the death sentence to life in prison during his last days of office as governor on June 21, 1915 (just one day before Leo Frank was to be executed by hanging).

Leo Frank Got Shanked

A prisoner named Greene used a seven-inch butcher knife and slashed Leo Frank’s throat, and because of the heat and humidity, the wound healed slowly.

August 16, 1915

One hot and humid night on August 16, 1915, an elite group–some of Georgia’s most prominent men–broke into the prison with the alleged help of the prison officials and guards and abducted Leo Frank. They drove him all through the night to an oak grove near Mary Phagan’s hometown.

The final destination was Frey’s Mill. Frank was removed from the vehicle in his handcuffs and shackles, a noose was placed around his neck, and the small table on which he had been hoisted onto was kicked out from under him. That same day morbid gawkers came by in droves to rip pieces of cloth from Leo Frank’s swinging, dangling body, as souvenirs. One person was said to have stomped on Frank’s face after he was cut down from the tree.

Alonzo Mann Bamboozle

Sixty-nine years after the 1913 murder trial, Alonzo Mann came forward to the press after being pressured by a Jewish partisan from the Tennessean Newspaper, and Mann confessed that he witnessed Jim Conley (the alleged “real” murderer) carrying the body of Mary Phagan, presumably down to the basement, instead of using the elevator. The testimony offered nothing new, because Jim Conley confessed at the trial to being an accessory after the murder and admitted Frank asked him to move the body to the basement.

With Alonzo Mann deceased in 1986, the Anti-Defamation League could now use his affidavit to secure Leo Frank with a highly political posthumous pardon. However, the board did not exonerate Leo Frank of the murder. And because Mann was dead, no one could ask him any questions or cross-examine him. It was a shady and Pyrrhic victory for the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith in attempting to get full exoneration, but ultimately, it failed.

Leo Frank is still guilty today, but the Jewish community makes it seem like his pardon was an exoneration.

The People v. Leo Frank weaves a story with recollections, commentary, interviews, and a rich treasure trove of selected archival documents and images. Will Janowitz (The Sopranos) is Leo Frank, and Seth Gilliam (The Wire) plays Jim Conley, with a script drawn and spun selectively from the trial records.

Watch The People v. Leo Frank (2009) and then study the original documents of the Leo Frank case so you can see how much of the truth this movie omitted.

Now it is time for you to learn what really happened by carefully reading the works below.

0. The Leo Frank Case (Mary Phagan): Inside Story of Georgia’s Greatest Murder Mystery (1913): The first neutral book written on the subject in 1913, available on archive.org.

1. The Murder of Little Mary Phagan, by Mary Phagan Kean (available on www.Archive.org): Written by Mary Phagan Kean, the great grandniece of Mary Phagan, this book presents neutral account of the events surrounding the murder of Mary Phagan and the trial of Leo Frank. The Murder of Little Mary Phagan is well worth reading, and it is a refreshing change from the endless number of hate films and books turning the Leo Frank case into a neurotic race-obsessed tabloid controversy when it was nothing more than a murder cold case.

2. American State Trials, volume X (1918) by John Lawson (available on www.Archive.org): Showing bias in favor of Leo Frank and his legal defense team, this document provides an abridged version of the Brief of Evidence, leaving out some important trial testimony and republishing only selective parts of it.

Read the closing arguments of Luther Zeigler Rosser, Reuben Rose Arnold, Frank Arthur Hooper, and Hugh Manson Dorsey. For a more complete version of the Leo M. Frank trial testimony, read the 1913 murder trial brief of evidence found on www.archive.org and see what was left out.

3. Argument of Hugh M. Dorsey in the Trial of Leo Frank (available on www.archive.org): This volume provides some but not all of the nine hours of arguments given to the jury in late August 1913 at the end of the Leo Frank trial. Only eighteen libraries in the world have copies of this rare book, but it can be found on archive.org. This is an excellent book and mandatory reading to see how Dorsey in sales vernacular “closed” thirteen men, a jury of twelve men and Judge Roan. Dorsey’s arguments were so convincing, two years of higher court review by over a dozen judges affirmed the guilty verdict.

4. Leo M. Frank, Plaintiff in Error, vs. State of Georgia, Defendant in Error. In Error from Fulton Superior Court at the July Term 1913, Brief of Evidence. Extremely rare, only one copy exists, and it is locked away in the most secure vault at the Georgia State Archive. High-resolution scans of this original document are available now on LeoFrank.org.

6. The Atlanta Journal, April 28, 1913, to August 27, 1913. Available on The Internet Archive, www.Archive.org.

7. The Atlanta Georgian, April 28, 1913 to August 27, 1913. Hearst’s Tabloid Yellow Journalism, available on The Internet Archive, www.Archive.org.

8. Tom Watson’s Jeffersonian and Watson’s Magazine: Watson’s Magazine, January 1915, Watson’s Magazine, March 1915; Watson’s Magazine, August 1915, Watson’s Magazine, September 1915, and Watson’s Magazine, October of 1915 (available on www.Archive.org).

Tom Watson’s best work on the Leo M. Frank case was published in September 1915. His five works written collectively on the Leo M. Frank topic provide logical arguments confirming the guilt of Leo M. Frank with superb reasoning.

These five works are paramount for anyone interested in the Leo M. Frank case. Tom Watson’s magazine publications surged from 30,000 to 100,000 copies when he announced that he would be writing on the Leo Frank case. These magazines are rare and difficult to find. However, they have been scanned and are available on www.Archive.org.

If you study each of the above documents carefully, you will gain a deep understanding of the Leo Frank case.

The question left unanswered by the People vs. Leo Frank, Steve Oney, and Ben Loeterman: Where was Leo Frank when Monteen Stover waited in his office from 12:05 to 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 1913?

“Short Stand in Dixieland,” To Number Our Days, pages 237-238:

The Jewish community of Atlanta at that time seemed to live under a cloud. Several years previously one of its members, Leo Frank, had been lynched as he was being transferred from the Fulton Tower Prison in Atlanta to Milledgeville for trial on a charge of having raped and murdered a little girl in his warehouse which stood right opposite the Constitution building. Many Jewish citizens who recalled the lynching were unanimous in assuring me that Frank was innocent of the crime.

I took reading all the evidence pro and con in the record department at the courthouse. Before long I came upon an envelope containing a sheaf of papers and a number of X-ray photographs showing teeth indentures. The murdered girl had been bitten on the left shoulder and neck before being strangled. But the X-ray photos of the teeth marks on her body did not correspond with Leo Frank’s set of teeth of which several photos were included. If those photos had been published at the time of the murder, as they should have been, the lynching would probably not have taken place.

Though, as I said, the man died several years before, it was too late, I thought, to rehabilitate his memory and perhaps restore the good name of his family. I showed Clark Howell the evidence establishing Frank’s innocence and asked permission to run a series of articles dealing with the case and especially with the evidence just uncovered. Mr. Howell immediately concurred, but the most prominent Jewish lawyer in the city, Mr. Harry Alexander, whom I consulted with a view to have him present the evidence to the grand jury, demurred. He said Frank had not even been tried. Hence no new trial could be requested. Moreover, the Jewish community in its entirety still felt nervous about the incident. If I wrote the articles old resentments might be stirred up and, who knows some of the unknown lynchers might recognize themselves as participants in my description of the lynching. It was better, Mr. Alexander thought, to leave sleeping lions alone. Some local rabbis were drawn into the discussion and they actually pleaded with Clark Howell to stop me from reviving interest in the Frank case as this was bound to have evil repercussions on the Jewish community.

That someone had blabbed out of school became quite evident when I received a printed warning saying: “Lay off the Frank case if you want to keep healthy.” The unsigned warning was reinforced one night, or rather, early one morning when I was driving home. A large automobile drove up alongside of me and forced me into the track of a fast-moving streetcar coming from the opposite direction. My car was demolished, but I escaped without a scratch….

Leonard Dinnerstein is the professor who manufactured and promulgated the Antigentile “Hang the Jew” Blood-libel hatecrime hoax into the mainstream and academy since 1966..

‘Leo M. Frank and the American Jewish Community’, American Jewish Archive Journal, 1968, Volume 20, number 2, by Jewish activist professor Leonard Dinnerstein.

Starting on page 110 is the example of Leonard Dinnerstein creating an un-sourced fabrication (lie) based on academic dishonesty:

“Beyond the main testimony, the jurors had little more on which to base their decision than hearsay, rumors, and unsubstantiated accusations. Yet most members of the public were thoroughly convinced of the defendant’s guilt and made their voices heard, The intense summer heat necessitated that the courtroom windows be left open, and remarks from the crowds could be heard easily by those inside. “Crack the Jew’s neck!” – “Lynch him!” – were some of the epithets emerging from the more boisterous. Threats were also made “against the jury that they would be lynched if they did not hang that ‘damned sheeny.’ ”

Film about the lynching of Leo Frank to premiere in Cobb

An invitation to the premiere of The People v. Leo Frank.

By JIM AUCHMUTEY

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Leo Frank is coming back to Cobb County.

“The People v. Leo Frank,” a TV documentary about one of the darkest chapters in Georgia history, will premiere April 30 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre — in the county where he was lynched in 1915. “We absolutely wanted it to be at Cobb Energy Centre,” says Bill Nigut, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, which is sponsoring the premiere. “That venue is just a few miles from where Frank was hanged. We hope the evening will serve as a memorial of the tragedy, while that ultramodern arts center will speak to how far Cobb County has come.” To underscore the meaning, two Cobb Countians have been enlisted as co-chairmen: former Gov. Roy Barnes, whose wife has ancestral connections to the lynching conspiracy, and Cobb’s first Jewish commission chairman, Sam Olens. The $100-a-ticket premiere will benefit the ADL, which used the Frank case early in its history to rally against anti-Semitism. Frank, a Jewish transplant from New York, was accused of the 1913 murder of Mary Phagan, a teen who worked in the pencil factory he managed in downtown Atlanta. A Fulton County jury convicted him, but many thought him innocent. When Gov. John Slaton commuted his death sentence to life, vigilantes kidnapped Frank from prison and lynched him in Marietta, Phagan’s hometown.

Boston filmmaker Ben Loeterman shot live-action scenes last summer in Atlanta, Griffin, Monroe and Marietta. It will air on PBS late this year.

The film was underwritten, in part, by $500,000 in donations from Georgians — mostly members of Atlanta’s Jewish community, but also Cobb leaders such as Barnes and Marietta Daily Journal publisher Otis Brumby.

“This film wasn’t going to happen unless Atlanta wanted it to,” Loeterman says.

Premiere tickets are available from the ADL: 404-262-3470 or www.adl.org/leofrank.

The People v. Leo Frank:

A teacher’s guide to accompany the film by Ben Loeterman

The People v. Leo Frank: Teachers Guide

“Almost a century after the fact, one of the most notorious criminal dramas in American history comes back to life as a documentary.” —Atlanta Journal Constitution

The People v. Leo Frank, a 2009 film by Ben Loeterman Productions, vividly brings to life one of the most fascinating criminal cases in American history: the 1913 murder of a child laborer, Mary Phagan, and the trial and lynching of the Jewish factory supervisor accused of her murder, Leo Frank. Set against the backdrop of an American South struggling to shed its legacy of bigotry and xenophobia, The People v. Leo Frank is both a first-rate murder mystery and a compelling look at racial, religious, regional and class prejudices in the early years of the 20th century. View the movie trailer.

ADL is proud to present the Teacher’s Guide to accompany The People v. Leo Frank. The guide provides instructional materials that help educators to explore the intersection of various forms of oppression and the complexity of bias incidents at the center of the Leo Frank case in four topic areas:

Anti-Semitism and Religious Bigotry
Racism and Race Relations
Regional and Class Tensions
The Power of the Press

Each topic area includes guided review of film clips with discussion questions, student readings, extension activities and research ideas, investigation of primary source materials, as well as correlation to national educational standards.

Students will emerge from their study of the Leo Frank case with an understanding of the ways in which anti-Semitism, racism and other social forces shaped life in the post-Reconstruction and Jim Crow South. More importantly, students will also increase their awareness about the dangers of stereotyping and bigotry in today’s world, and the importance of speaking out against bias and prejudice of all kinds.

Read through some excerpts of the guide’s discussion questions and watch the accompanying film clips. You can also download the entire Teacher’s Guide using the form below.
